For patients not wishing to have a long-term implanted medical device, we are also pleased to offer the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy surgery. Through five small incisions (between 1 and 2 inches) approximately 70 percent of the stomach is removed.

Although still an investigational weight loss surgery procedure, Dr. Stephen G. Boyce is now performing Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication. This bariatric surgery technique has the potential to help patients achieve an earlier feeling of fullness at mealtimes, without removing part of the stomach or using implantable devices to restrict food intake.

Our Program

Step 1: Free Seminar

We provide free, monthly informational seminars before your first appointment with The Center. To reserve your spot in advance call (865) 694-9676. Space is limited.

Step 2: Consultation

The next step in the process is a consultation with the surgeon. The consultation will involve scheduling medical and psychological clearances, testing to establish baseline information, and developing the pre-surgical plan, including selecting the surgical procedure to be performed.

Step 3: Education

Education is an important part of preparing for weight loss surgery. Our educational program has three components:

  • Patient education class
  • Hospital tour with the Bariatric Program Coordinator
  • Final pre-surgery visit
